Dr. Jennifer Arnold, Professor of Cognitive Psychology, has been named the inaugural President of the Society for Human Sentence Processing.

The Society for Human Sentence Processing represents scholars dedicated to the study of language and cognition. What goes on in your mind when you produce and understand language? How do you remember and access words on the fly when you produce or comprehend language? How do you put together grammatical sequences? How is language used appropriately in context? This society grew out of the CUNY conference on Human Sentence Processing, which was initiated by Janet Fodor at the CUNY graduate center, and was held for the first time in 1988. It has been held annually (in person or virtually) every year since.

Dr. Arnold will serve as President for the 2021-22 year; congratulations, Dr. Arnold!
